Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Force (CDF) visited Germany from 12 to 14 February where they attended various important meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.
The Field Marshal and the CDF held meetings with several international dignitaries.
They met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss matters of mutual interest, global and regional security situation and cooperation in counter-terrorism.
During their meetings with German officials, the Field Marshal and the CDF met with the Federal Minister of the Interior of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Alexander Doebrandt, Advisor to the German Chancellor on Foreign and Security Policy, Mr. Gunter Satter, and Chief of Defence of the Federal Armed Forces, General Carsten Breuer.
Contemporary security challenges, bilateral defence cooperation and the importance of bilateral and multilateral dialogue for promoting global peace and stability were discussed in these meetings.
Furthermore, the Chief of Army and CDF also held a fruitful meeting with the Chief of Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, Admiral Renato Rodríguez de Aguiar Ferreira, during which bilateral military cooperation was discussed.
The Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Rodolphe Heckel, also met with the Field Marshal and CDF. On this occasion, the global and regional security situation and measures to further promote bilateral defense cooperation were discussed.
