COLOMBO : There are concerns that the high-voltage T20 World Cup clash between Pakistan and India in Colombo could be affected by rain.

The crucial T20 World Cup match between Pakistan and India is scheduled to be played on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Meteorological experts have warned that the match may fall victim to rain.

Due to Colombo’s unpredictable weather, fans eagerly awaiting the much-anticipated Pakistan-India showdown are hoping that it does not rain.

According to Google Weather, rainfall in Colombo is expected to begin on Friday and continue through Wednesday. On February 15 (Sunday), thunderstorms are also forecast.

The weather may play game spoiler as fans, not only in Pakistan and India, but around world, have been waiting for the clash of titans due to controversies that surrounded the T20 World Cup. Pakistan had refused to play India in solidarity with Bangladesh who were ousted from the world event after refusing to play in India citing security concerns. The ICC, after hectic efforts, convinced Pakistan to play against the arch rival.

If the match is washed out due to weather, both Pakistan and India will be awarded one point each. At present, both the Group A teams have four points each winning both their matches.

It is worth noting that Pakistan’s earlier warm-up match was also washed out due to rain, and if it rains on Sunday, Pakistan could face difficulties in qualifying for the Super Eight stage.
