Sri Lanka posted the highest score of the ongoing T20 World Cup in the 16th match of the ICC T20 World Cup in Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Balagolla, against Oman on Thursday. They scored 225-5 in their quota of 20 overs.
All the top order batsmen treated Oman bowlers ferociously and scored at will. Kusal Mendis remained top scorer with 61, and got support from Pavan Rathnayake who hit 60, captain Dasun Shanaka 50, and Kamindu Mendis 19.
Earlier, Oman won the toss and put Sri Lanka into bat.
Speaking after the toss, Oman captain Jatinder Singh said that there was slight moisture in the strip and they wanted to take advantage of it.
He added that they rarely get opportunities to play against Test-playing nations, so this is a good opportunity for them.
He said that two changes have been made to the Oman team, with J. Odedra and Mohammad Nadeem included in the side.
Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka said that they are happy to bat first. Unfortunately, their champion bowler Hasaranga is not included in the team, and Hemantha has been brought in as his replacement.
