LAHORE : The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) thwarted a major drug smuggling attempt at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, preventing a large consignment of narcotic pills from being sent abroad.

According to an ANF spokesperson, officials intercepted 32 cartons at the airport’s cargo shed that were booked for Nigeria.

The seized shipment contained 1.47 million tramadol tablets weighing 808.5 kilograms, along with 57,600 diazepam (Valium) pills weighing 17.28 kilograms.

The total weight of the recovered drugs was recorded at 825.78 kilograms.

The spokesperson confirmed that the narcotics have been taken into custody and legal proceedings have begun, while investigations are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the smuggling attempt.
