PESHAWAR :Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Junaid Akbar on Monday announced that he is formally separating himself from the PTI’s parliamentary party in the National Assembly to function as an independent.
Junaid Akbar said that his patience has run out and that he is no longer part of the PTI parliamentary party.
In a message shared in the parliamentary party’s WhatsApp group, Junaid Akbar said that from now on, I do not recognize the chief whip or the parliamentary leader. I spoke during Ramazan and also took part in the budget discussion. I tried to speak again, but I was not given the opportunity. On every issue, only a few people are allowed to speak.
Junaid Akbar said, “Who is this chief whip to make decisions about who will speak every day? Is there any system, any sense of humanity among you? What kind of method is this — that they will speak and we will just bang our desks? No one has the courage to question terrorism. Why did Mohsin Naqvi not come to the House?”
He further said, “There isn’t enough courage to speak the truth, yet they come daily just to show their faces. From today, I am no longer part of this parliamentary party. I will move forward as an independent. I will speak to the Speaker. I no longer want to sit with you.”
Junaid Akbar said that from today onward, I will hold an independent position. I will write to the Speaker to allot me a separate seat from PTI. From today, I am not part of the parliamentary committee. I do not recognize any parliamentary or other leader, he said.
