Bangladesh also reacted to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s domineering statement regarding the T20 World Cup.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had said yesterday that the decision not to play the match against India in the T20 World Cup has been taken after careful consideration and the reason for this is to express solidarity with Bangladesh.
In a message, Bangladesh’s Sports Advisor Dr. Asif Nazral said ‘Thank you Pakistan’ on his statement.
Asif Nazral also referred to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in his statement.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had said during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday that we will not play the match against India. Because politics should not be on the playing field. We have taken this decision after much thought. We should stand completely with Bangladesh. I think this is a very appropriate decision.
Earlier, the Pakistani government had informed through a message on social media on February 1 that the Pakistani team has been allowed to participate in the T20 World Cup but the match against India on February 15 will not be played.
ICC sources said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not officially informed the council in this regard.
Yesterday, Indian media reports claimed that the ICC has tasked Deputy Chief Imran Khawaja with backdoor talks with Pakistan to resolve the issue.
