Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched Punjab’s first Community Health Inspectors Program, which aims to provide health facilities to every household and enable timely diagnosis of diseases.
55,000 Community Health Inspectors from across the province participated in the ceremony held at the Punjab Hockey Stadium. The Chief Minister welcomed the inspectors from every district by taking a long walk on the stadium track and responded to the slogans by waving her hands.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “When mothers, sisters and daughters come out in the field, no one can defeat Punjab. The daughters of Punjab will change the destiny of this province.” She said that 25,000 Community Health Inspectors will go out in the field and go to the homes to identify diseases and provide initial treatment.
The Chief Minister said that the government will no longer wait for the disease but will itself go door to door to provide preventive measures and diagnosis. Community health inspectors will also be able to provide blood sugar, initial diagnostic tests and injections, while a digital health profile of each household will be prepared.
He said that 25,000 people have been employed under the program and each community health inspector is being paid a monthly salary of Rs. 50,000, while the salary will also be increased if the performance improves.
The Chief Minister, while describing the community health inspectors as a mission, said that this is not a job but a passion for service, and the daughters of the nation will go to homes and serve the people, their respect is a duty on everyone.
During the ceremony, a magnificent fireworks display was performed, the inspectors marched past to the tunes of the band, and welcomed the guests by lighting up the lights of their mobile phones. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir also gave an enthusiastic speech and appreciated the performance of the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her resolve that the Punjab government believes in proactive governance and is taking practical steps to provide modern health facilities to every citizen.
