Trans World's CMV6 cable arrives in Karachi to improve Pakistan's internet speed

The Pakistani government has embarked on a digital journey, which demonstrates the government’s commitment to connecting with the rest of the digital world.

According to details, Trans World is working on laying the CMV6 submarine cable on the coast. The CMV6 cable has reached the coast of Hawke’s Bay.

The South East Asia, Middle East, Western Europe 6 cable is 21,700 kilometers long. The submarine cable will connect Pakistan to most countries of the world. The CMV6 submarine cable starts from Singapore and goes to France, one of which is in Karachi.

Saad Muzaffar Warraich, Chairman Trans World, said that Trans World is the first private company in Pakistan to lay a cable in Pakistan.

He said that this is the ninth cable that has landed in Pakistan. One cable was completed last year. Pakistan’s private sector has cooperated with the Ministry of IT.

He said that other companies, including Starlink, are currently in the regulatory process. We are trying to get more companies to operate in Pakistan. We will try to start Starlink as soon as possible, but more importantly, we have to start it in the right way.

Transworld has already brought three submarine cables to Pakistan. The first submarine came to Pakistan in 2005, the second in 2015, and the third in 2024.

CME V6 is Transworld’s latest submarine cable. CME V6 is a consortium of sixteen major companies. CME V6 will improve Pakistan’s internet speed.
