Trade volume between Pakistan and Poland has reached one billion dollars, says Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar says that the trade volume between Pakistan and Poland has reached one billion dollars, while the two countries have agreed to further expand mutual cooperation in various sectors.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a joint press conference with the Polish Foreign Minister. Ishaq Dar welcomed the Polish Foreign Minister and said that he was happy to visit Pakistan.

According to Ishaq Dar, the Polish Foreign Minister made his first visit in 2011. He said that during the Second World War, Polish citizens lived in Quetta and Karachi, which is a symbol of the historical relations between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister said that Poland has now become a trillion dollar economy. There have been discussions on mutual cooperation, memorandums of understanding between the ISI and the Polish Institute. He added that Pakistan has expressed its reservations over the attacks on Pakistan by the Fitnat Khawarij.

Ishaq Dar thanked Poland for reminding us of the historical relations between the two countries and said that cooperation between think tanks of the two regions is necessary. He said that there have also been discussions on increasing cooperation in the mining and construction sectors.

The Polish Foreign Minister said that currently around 2,000 Pakistanis are living in Poland and Polish universities are very popular among Pakistani students. He mentioned Poland’s strict laws on illegal immigrants and said that human smugglers violate Polish borders, but the Polish border has now become a secure border of the European Union.

He said that people are urged not to cross this border during the winter season. Russia is making new efforts to destabilize Europe, while Poland is also playing a role in establishing peace in Gaza.

The Polish Foreign Minister said that Poland is close to recognizing the Palestinian state.
