A knife-wielding man attacked a synagogue in Manchester on the Jewish religious day.
According to the International News Agency, the attack on the Jewish synagogue in Manchester was carried out on the morning of the Day of Atonement, when Jews were present in large numbers to celebrate their religious day.
The attacker in a car drove his vehicle into citizens who had come to the synagogue in an attempt to force his way through a security checkpoint.
The knife-wielding attacker got out of his car and attacked those going to the synagogue, in which 2 Jews were killed on the spot and 3 were seriously injured.
Among the dead was a security guard who was seriously injured trying to stop the attacker. He suffered deep stab wounds.
As soon as the attack was reported, the police surrounded the synagogue, and the attacker was also killed in an exchange of fire.
However, security forces did not confirm that the attacker was killed in the exchange of fire, but confirmed that the attacker was shot.
A bomb disposal unit was called in due to suspicious particles found on the attacker’s body, and for this reason, the police could not immediately confirm his death.
It is feared that the attacker had come with explosives strapped to his body that could explode at any time. The bomb disposal team is in action.
It should be remembered that since the Gaza war, there has been an increase in attacks on synagogues and Jews around the world.
This year alone, several synagogues, their homes, a Shoah center, and restaurants in Paris were chalked and vandalized with green paint.
A swastika was painted on several Jewish homes and a Jewish resident was attacked with an air rifle.
Similar chalking was carried out against Jews in Melbourne, Australia, last year.
A synagogue in Russia was attacked in June last year. A similar attack was also carried out in Germany in 2019.
