ISLAMABAD: The FBR has initiated action against jewelers who are not in the tax net and has sent notices to jewelers in several cities.
According to media sources, notices have been issued to jewelers in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Multan in the initial phase, through which jewelers have been asked to explain their tax matters.

It should be remembered that it was revealed yesterday that the FBR has collected data of more than 60,000 jewelers across the country, of which only 21,000 are registered and of these, only 10,524 have submitted regular tax returns. Sources say that most jewelers try to hide and understate their actual income to avoid paying taxes.
The FBR, deciding to take strict action against this behavior, has prepared a list of 900 jewelers from Punjab in the first phase who will face strict scrutiny and legal action.
