Peshawar: PTI leaders Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz have approached the Peshawar High Court against the move to de-notify them.
Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz filed petitions through Bashir Wazir Advocate in which the Election Commission, Speaker National Assembly and Chairman Senate have been made parties.
The petition has taken the position that on August 5, the Election Commission disqualified Opposition Leader National Assembly Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz. Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz challenged the Election Commission decision in the Peshawar High Court, on which the Peshawar High Court on August 6 stopped the Election Commission from taking further action against both the petitioners.
The Peshawar High Court issued orders that the Election Commission should not take further action on the August 5 notification. Following the court orders, the Speaker National Assembly and Chairman Senate de-notified the petitioner Omar Ayub and declared Shibli Faraz’s seat vacant.
The petition took the position that the actions of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Senate Chairman, despite court orders, were contempt of court.
