ISLAMABAD (PR): Spearheaded by the Trunwala Family, Leisure Leagues is now in its second season in Pakistan, with Islamabad also a huge beneficiary of an initiative that is bound to give football its rightful place as a popular sport in the country.
This Sunday, Total Football Chak Shahzad, Total Football Ayub Park and the Stadium E-11 played host to some really great matches. Competition has started amping up in its intensity since now the we are at the business end of the campaign. At Total Football Ayub Park, the likes of SMD, Kamra, Minhas and Spartans are literally matching one another blow by blow and it is clear that the title would be decided in the last two weeks of the campaign. Mobeen of Spartans is in great form at the moment but will need some help from his teammates to deliver on a more consistent basis. MFC on the other hand, are still in great position to finish inside the top two if Talha and co. can add more consistency in their displays.
Total Chak Shahzad saw another round of competitive actions with the likes of MIFA, Shooterz and Ravens showcasing their credentials once again. The match between league leaders MIFA and Ravens was a treat to watch and finished in the favor of MIFA 6-3.
However, don’t be misguided by the scoreline since some truly great attacking intent by the likes of Aneeb was undone by some really bad defending by the Ravens. This is the first time any team in the league has scored more than twice against a team whose star striker Frank, has scored goals for fun. At Stadium E11, Roots Ivy Campus, spearheaded by another excellent display by star man Ghayoor, hammered Arbaco 7-1. Clearly, this team is going to give every team in the league a run for its money. FC Toru on the other hand, were in bullish mood in their encounter with Yen Club who they downed 4-2. Nonetheless, Yen Club are a solid team and once they add more consistency to their displays, they are going to be a tough opponent to neutralize.
Azi Champ played FC Falcon in a cagey affair with the game being decided by some really ordinary keeping by the FC Falcon custodian. However, FC Falcon are bound to come back stronger next Sunday and shake off the defeat in a match they would feel warranted at least a point for them.
