ISLAMABAD: It is not conceivable, according to Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum, director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), to meet Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in the evening and then call him a “traitor in the day.”

On Thursday, Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), and the director general of the ISI held a news conference to announce the information. The two were speaking to the media about the passing away in Kenya of veteran journalist Arshad Sharif.

“If the commander-in-chief is a traitor, then why did you meet him in concealment,” the DG ISI remarked at the time. The DG ISI questioned, “Meeting him is your right, but it cannot be possible that you meet at night and label [him] a traitor during the day.

Today’s press briefing featured the ISI director in a never-before-seen appearance; this was a first.I know you are astonished by my look, he said, adding that he had come to show his support of his organisation and the cops who were losing their lives in the line of duty.

As the head of this organisation, he continued, “I cannot keep silent while they are being targeted for no reason.Additionally, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar stated that the media discussion’s goal was to shed light on the journalist Arshad Sharif’s slaying and its circumstances.

He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been “specially briefed” about the press conference’s sensitivity. This press conference is being held in the framework of giving facts so that “truth, fiction, and opinion can be identified,” he said.

Finding the reasons why a specific story is being constructed and people are being mislead is necessary, he said.According to Lt Gen Iftikhar, Sharif’s passing was a “very terrible affair.”
