ISLAMABAD: Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar, son of Haji Sardar Din Muhammad Nasar, candidate of PML-N on Monday filed nomination papers for election to the vacant seat of Senate from Federal Capital.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held today from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Earlier, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday awarded Senate ticket from Islamabad to party leader from Balochistan and for federal minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar.
According to PML-N spokesperson, the seat was vacant after Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was appointed as Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Ten candidates from the party were under consideration for the ticket. The included Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Law and Justice Ashtar Ausaf, PML-N Balochistan leader Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar and Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Anusha Rehman.
However, the party finally awarded ticket to Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar. The party leaders have congratulated him for securing the Senate ticket.
