Large-scale irregularities and corruptions have been revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the payment of meeting and daily allowances to the Board of Governors and Management Committee members.
In the financial year 2022-23, the Board of Governors and Management Committee members Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh, Mohammad Haroon Rashid Dar, Azad Syed and Najam Sethi have been paid crores of rupees in the form of meeting and daily allowance.
The Auditor General of Pakistan in its audit report has recommended an inquiry into the illegal extra payments made to members by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This is done in the audit report.
According to the copy of the audit report available to Express News, under the Pakistan Cricket Board of Governors Regulation 2C, the chairman gets a daily allowance of Rs 10,000 while going abroad (world wide) gets a daily allowance of $300 and accommodation is arranged by Pakistan Cricket. Board has to do while traveling in UK 400 dollars per day allowance and accommodation is arranged.
According to the document, under Regulation 2D, members of the PCB Board of Governors and Management Committee get an allowance of Rs 10,000 per day for going out of Lahore for official duties. During 23, Pakistan Cricket Board has paid 1 crore 17 lakh 25 thousand rupees to the members of the Board of Governor and Management Committee instead of 10 thousand rupees per day at the rate of 25 thousand rupees per day. Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh has been paid 42 lakh 60 thousand rupees, out of which 27 lakh rupees have been paid as meeting allowance and 15 lakh 60 thousand rupees as daily allowance.
According to the report, payments of 35 lakh 5 thousand rupees have been made to Muhammad Haroon Rashid Dar, out of which 26 lakh 75 thousand rupees have been paid in the form of meeting allowance and 10 lakh 30 thousand rupees have been paid in the form of daily allowance.
It is further stated in the report that payments of 39 lakh sixty thousand rupees have been made to Azad Syed while 46 lakh 60 thousand 605 rupees have been paid to Najam Sethi, out of which 26 lakh 50 thousand rupees are in the form of meeting allowance and 20 lakh ten One thousand six hundred and five rupees have been paid as daily allowance.
According to the audit report, there are only five meetings of the Board of Governors which were scheduled on 23 December 2022, 31 December 2022, 13 March 2023, 13 June 2023 and 14 June 2023. The meeting and daily allowance was paid to the Member Management Committee Azad Syed from Lahore. Overpayments have been made to the members of the Board of Governors and Management Committee in the form of meeting and daily allowance, which has caused a loss of Rs.
The audit report further stated that the management of the Pakistan Cricket Board responded that the Board of Governors was converted into a Management Committee under the Executive Powers due to which their TADA carat increased, the documents said. It is known that the Departmental Audit Committee (DAC) in its meeting held on January 18, 2024 had directed to immediately recover the additional payments made to the members.
