Operation Zarb-e-Azb has successfully completed its two years. The army launched the operation in 2014 in order to wipe out militant bases in the North Waziristan tribal area and bring an end to the brutal insurgency that has cost Pakistan thousands of lives.
In two years, Pakistan army achieved significant successes to break the back of terrorists and maintain peace in the country. Pak Army has killed above 3500 terrorists in the tribal zone, with more than 400 soldiers rendered sacrifices for the beloved homeland.
Though Operation Zarb-e-Azb was initiated after infamous Karachi airport attack but it was intensified after the Taliban massacred more than 150 people, the majority of them children, at a school in the northwestern city of Peshawar in December 2014.
Operation Zarb-i-Azb resulted in stable and calmer Pakistan, before it Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan was targeting in almost all the big cities of the country and innocent people were becoming victims of the sheer brutality. Situation was worst up to such a level that there was hardly any month when a major terrorist attack did not take place.
It is the blood of our brave soldiers that has helped to save Pakistan, indeed nation owes the soldiers on the frontline a debt of gratitude. In such a time when army is rendering sacrifices to make this country terror free, political government also needs to match the commitments to implement the National Action Plan so gains of Zarb-e-Azb could not lost. PML-N government needs to shrug off the view point that it is lenient to take major crackdown in Punjab against militants.
It is the blood of our brave soldiers that has helped to save Pakistan.
