ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (INP): Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in assistance with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) confiscated two illegal gateway exchanges and arrested two accused on Friday.

In its ongoing efforts to control grey trafficking, the PTA along with the FIA team unearthed two illegal gateway exchanges at Karachi and Dir.

The first raid was carried out at Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. An illegal exchange comprising of 2×16 Port, 1x 64 Port gateways along with 16 SIMs (VPTCL), two wireless routers, 4G and Fariya 512 kbps connections were confiscated. One person was arrested from the spot.

The second raid was conducted at village Kumbat, Samarbagh, Dist. Dir (Lower) in which two illegal exchanges comprising of 16 ports with the capacity of 128 SIMs, were confiscated. One person was arrested and was in FIA custody for further investigation.

The successful raids against the grey operators were made possible because of continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by the PTA in curbing the menace of grey traffic thus curtailing the loss to the national exchequer because of grey traffickers in the country.
