The Ministry of Science and Technology allocates 80% of its development money to the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), COMSATS, and National University of Technology (NUTECH), according to the Secretary of Science and Technology.
He said this while addressing the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology, which held in this location on Monday under the chairmanship of Senator Shafiq Tarin.
The committee was informed by the secretary of the ministry of science that NUST projects receive 50% of the ministry’s development budget, while NUTECH and COMSATS programmes receive 30% each. He further stated that 13 institutes receive the remaining 20% of the ministry’s money.
These institutions get less money as a result of the poor project planning.Officials from NUTECH told the committee about the university’s performance and mentioned that it was able to independently design a ventilator. Once the ventilator’s clinical trial is finished, mass production will begin.
Lt. Gen. Moazzam Ijaz, director of NUTECH, stated that the university is working to construct a cutting-edge water management and research centre. The water management centre at NUTECH will work with the provinces to plan and carry out the projects linked to water. The centre will also give federal and provincial governments advisories in this regard.
