Taliban: After the United States claimed they killed the Al Qaeda leader in an attack in Kabul last month, the Taliban announced on Thursday that they have not located Ayman al-body Zawahiri’s and are still looking for it.

The worst blow to Al Qaeda since US Navy SEALS assassinated Osama bin Laden more than ten years ago, Zawahiri was killed in July by a missile fired from a drone as he stood on a balcony at his hideout, according to US sources.

His murder in Kabul aroused concerns about whether the Taliban provided him with sanctuary; the Taliban had promised the US that they would not harbour any more militants as part of a 2020 agreement on the withdrawal of US-led forces. One of the most sought men in the world, Zawahiri is an Egyptian doctor who had a key role in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US.
On the morning of July 31, according to US officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, a drone strike was conducted in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.

Biden had stated in remarks from the White House, “Now justice has been served, and this terrorist leader is no more.” “We never give up.”

Finding Zawahiri, according to the senior US official, was the consequence of ongoing counterterrorism efforts. This year, the United States discovered that Zawahiri’s wife, daughter, and children had moved to a safe house in Kabul, and later discovered that Zawahiri was also there, the official said. The official had stated, “We are not aware of Zawahiri ever leaving the safe house once he got at the site. He was recognised numerous times on the balcony before being attacked. From the residence, he continued to make videos, some of which might be made public after his passing.
