ISLAMABAD : The Punjab Assembly deputy speaker’s decision regarding the chief minister election, according to Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, will “drive the country and the nation towards deeper instability, anarchy, and polarisation,” he claimed on Tuesday.
“A decision made on Monday created doubts about the judgement rendered today.
At a press conference, she stated that the majority of people, including members of civil society, the legal community, representatives of bar associations, and legal professionals, did not agree with the decision to reject the request for the creation of a full court bench to interpret a constitutional issue.
The minister claimed that because Nawaz Sharif currently holds the mandate for Punjab, Hamza Shehbaz’s removal from office won’t have an impact on the PML-N. The PML-N states that it is certain of this.
She asserted that more than half of the population did not agree with the decision, saying that “a person who don’t have the mandate will now lead Punjab.”
All political parties sought a proper trial, according to Marriyum, because the Constitution and parliament should have supremacy in this case.
She added that the denial of the full-court bench’s plea already demonstrated the “lack of faith over the 3-member bench” and that “in the eyes of certain [people], there’d be no justice served by the three-member bench.”
