QUETTA: During the current National Games in Quetta, Judoka Sabir Shah of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Army’s Shan Ali in the 90 kg category in just 10 seconds to win the gold medal.
Shah, who won the first Judo gold medal in KP history at the National Games, stunned Ali, the favourite, by defeating him in an incredible 10 seconds.
Before making it to the final, Shah overcame competitors from Wapda, Balochistan, and the Police.
The second gold medal won by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the current National Games.
Shah will also represent Pakistan at the international Judo competition in Russia next month, along with Navy’s Hamid.
Shah is the only Pakistani judoka in history to have competed in the Olympics twice, and she did so by meeting the continental quota for both appearances. He did it at the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
