Islamabad: PM Mikhail Mishustin met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif
The Russian Prime Minister thanked his Pakistani counterpart for his “warmest greetings”, noting that this was his first visit to Pakistan as Prime Minister. Relations between Russia and Pakistan are based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect. The two countries are striving to take cooperation to a higher level.
The Government of Russia is focused on increasing trade and economic cooperation with Pakistan. In January-August 2024, the mutual trade turnover increased by almost 13% and exceeded 57 billion rubles.
Russia believes that our common task is to create favorable conditions for the promotion of trade, mutual investment, and the launch of new promising projects in energy, industry, agriculture, infrastructure construction, logistics and transport.
Russia has increased its energy supplies to Pakistan. Russian companies are also ready to facilitate the development of Pakistan’s gas industry. Moreover, Russia believes that Pakistan has great transit potential due to its favorable geographical location.
The first Russia-Pakistan Trade & Investment Forum, which was held in Moscow on October 1, boosted economic cooperation. Russian PM proposed to organize the second forum in Pakistan.
