ISLAMABAD: The resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the National Assembly is a political issue that should be settled in Parliament, according to Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Athar Minallah.
On Thursday, the Chief Justice of IHC heard a petition objecting to the unconstitutional acceptance of ten PTI MNAs’ resignation.Lawyer Ali Zafar appeared in court on behalf of the petitioners and stated that the Article 64 process had not been finished.
The court asked the attorney to first explain whether they are opposing the party’s policies and whether the party has taken any action against them. What is the goal of this petition, and is this in line with party policy, the CJ IHC further emphasised?
While stating that it does not meddle in Parliament’s business, the court instructed petitioners to provide evidence of their good faith.
