Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim held a telephonic conversation on Sunday, during which Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan would welcome Malaysia’s participation in the investigation into the Pahalgam incident.
The Prime Minister, expressing Pakistan’s deep concern over the current tensions in South Asia as a result of India’s provocative behavior since the Pahalgam incident, categorically rejected any attempt to link Pakistan to the incident without any evidence and reiterated Pakistan’s offer for an international, transparent, credible and impartial investigation to ascertain the facts behind the incident.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office Press Wing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan would welcome Malaysia’s participation in these investigations, stressing that Pakistan has always condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s role as a frontline state in the fight against terrorism and its immense sacrifices in this effort.
He added that India’s actions were distracting from Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts on its western border.
He stressed that Pakistan does not want to be embroiled in such a conflict, especially at a time when the country is on the path of economic stability.
The two Prime Ministers also discussed Pakistan-Malaysia relations and reiterated their shared commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment and cultural exchanges.
In this context, the Prime Minister said that he looked forward to paying an official visit to Malaysia this year. The telephone call is a reflection of the close friendship between Pakistan and Malaysia, in which the two leaders agreed to remain in touch on regional and international developments.
