PPP has finally presented its manifesto. Have you read that? I have read and I wonder if the PPP leadership is that naïve or too cunning.
It was Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who introduced ROTI KAPRA AUR MAKAN as his party’s slogan for the election. Today this is Bilawal who prefers to adopt the same. What does this mean? People are goof or the leadership is cunning. If a party tries to appease the masses by a decade old slogan despite the fact that the party was in power three times during this time frame this must be a matter of concern for the society.
Freedom from hunger is the first part of the manifesto. This is ROTI. The manifesto itself says “our party addressed hunger in 1970”. Further it says “we will establish a BHOOK MITAO programme to directly address the needs of the food insecure. The public distribution system will provide access to poor to wheat, pulses and eggs and subsidized prices. A computerized Benazir Food card will be issued”.
There is another program named APNI GALIAN APNA GHAR. Bilawal said, “Now we pledge to free all our people from the fear of hunger, thirst and helplessness and to open opportunities for all our children and youth so that they may excel, become active citizens of Pakistan and confident members of the global community; to rebuild and build an economy that works for all our people, now and into the future; to deepen democracy by fostering harmony among our people, between our people and our state, and among the institutions of our state, and to make the government accountable and answerable to the people by strengthening the parliament and other institutional frameworks; to secure rights and peace for our state and for all our people and to reclaim Pakistan’s rightful place in the world.”
The question is : isn’t it a shameful failure on your part that in these decades you can’t solve this issue and today again you are coming with the same slogan?
