After the Champions Trophy, the international cricket festival will be held in the form of the Asia Cup in September this year. Keeping in mind the T20 World Cup 2026, this Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format.
The 17th edition of the event had 19 matches scheduled, which were initially to be held in India. However, due to the relations between Pakistan and India, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is looking for a neutral venue.
According to the latest report, the venues are yet to be decided, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) officials are thinking of holding the event in Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates. However, the hosting of the Cup will remain with India.
This important decision by the ACC has been taken to avoid the ongoing dispute between Pakistan and India before the Champions Trophy.
It should be noted that the Indian government had not allowed the Indian team to come to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy, after which Pakistan also set a condition that the matches held in India should be held at a neutral venue. After several weeks of meetings, Dubai was chosen for all India’s matches in the Champions Trophy.
To save the ACC event from this controversy from the beginning, the council has decided to hold all 19 matches of the Asia Cup at neutral venues.
