Haleem Adil Sheikh, the leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, had a motion for physical remand in a case involving land grabbing dismissed by a judge on Tuesday.The court ordered the anti-encroachment officials to present the case challan at the subsequent hearing while also placing Sheikh under judicial detention.
Sheikh, a PTI leader as well, has been in custody for more than a month now on suspicion of stealing 25 acres of public land. He claims that while being held, he was tortured and strangled.
The investigating officer (IO) was questioned by the court about holding Sheikh by his collar during the hearing.The prosecution stated during his arguments that Haleem received a notice following the filing of the case against him, but he refused to assist with the inquiry.
In order to investigate the substantial evidence against Haleem, he asked the court to remand Haleem into police custody.On Twitter, a video of Sheikh from the hearing emerged in which he was seen complaining about being tortured and hanged in jail.They failed to provide me with food for two days.
