The incident involved an overspeeding passenger coach and three Suzuki pick-ups

ISLAMABAD: Four people were killed and 11 others were injured early on Sunday in a traffic accident at the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad, Radio Pakistan reported.

According to reports, the incident occurred due to over speeding. The injured were shifted to a nearby local hospital for treatment.

The police stated that four vehicles, a speeding passenger coach and three Suzuki pick-ups, collided with each other. The accident occurred owing to multiple factors including absence of a traffic signal or traffic warden as well as slippery road.

In a separate incident, three people were killed and two sustained critical injuries in a collision between an ambulance and an oil tanker at the National Highway near Mastung.

Earlier this month, eight women and a child were killed and 13 others sustained critical injuries when an overcrowded jeep plunged into a deep ravine in Ayubia, Abbottabad.

“At least 22 people, all belonging to Bandi Maira village, were returning from a neighbouring village after attending a funeral ceremony in Galiyat when the overcrowded jeep skidded off the road at a sharp turn and fell into a gorge,” DSP Circle Galiyat Jameelur Rehman Qureshi.

As a result, he added, seven women and a child died on the spot and 14 others sustained serious injuries.
