Dr. Babar Awan demanded fresh elections as well as Mian Nawaz Sharif’s resignation. Babar Awan is the new face of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf who has recently shifted his loyalties from Pakistan Peoples Party to PTI. On Friday, he said,” We will not only asking for resignation of the Prime Minister, but also want re-elections, so that the public could choose the new leader”.
Time will tell that either this is the individual stance of Babar Awan or party leadership of PTI is also supporting this demand of Babar or not. Although it’s our belief that new stance will be a crack between two main opposition parties, means PPP and PTI, while earlier both were on the same page because they were demanding Prime Minister should step down to ensure that the constitution and system prevailed.
We believe that PTI leadership will rethink on new stance of Dr. Babar Awan because we have doubt that other political parties and public will support new stance. Within this, his opinion is also against the soul of democracy.
At present scenario, we think that veteran politicians of the PMLN, such as Raja Zafarul Haq and Zafar Ali Shah has huge responsibility to give such advice to their party leaders which helps them to make right decisions, with this not only political uncertainty should be eliminated from the country, but should not harm the party, as a result, the ongoing democratic process continued and the party leadership, which seemed to be roaring, could save the rest. It is also necessary to ask here that unless the census process is reached throughout the country, new constituencies , based on good intentions and accountability process is not completed till the next election, will not bring any change in the interest of the country and nation. Otherwise re- election will be useless.
The best possible solution should be resignation of Prime Minister and another senior member of PMLN should be appointed as PM. If Nawaz Sharif, somehow wins the legal battle against corruption charges leveled against him, he would have more legal and moral authority to become PM.
Along with resignation of PM, opposition is also pondering to suggest early elections.
