BEIJING: Sohail Khan, the SCO’s deputy secretary general, led a team from the SCO Secretariat to the opening ceremonies of the 28th China Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair in Gansu Province, China.
According to the SCO Secretariat here, the team met with the provincial and city officials of Lanzhou as well as Yury Senko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People’s Republic of China, on the sidelines of the exhibition.
The five-day event, which included commercial negotiations and seminars aimed at fostering economic and trade cooperation among nations along the Belt and Road, was held in Lanzhou, the capital of northwest China’s Gansu Province.
This year’s fair’s honorary guests are Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates, and representatives of business groups and commercial enterprises from nations like Pakistan, Australia, Spain, Thailand, and Indonesia were also present.
The expo, which was first held in 1993, has grown into a crucial venue for the opening up of northwest China and a significant occasion for Belt and Road economic and trade cooperation.This year, trade earnings with Belt and Road nations increased quickly in Gansu, jumping by 24 percent year over year in the first five months and making up about half of the province’s overall foreign trade revenue during that time.
