Attempts to smuggle drugs abroad worth Rs. 2.794 b foiled says ANF

RAWALPINDI: ANF foiled attempts to smuggle drugs abroad, recovering 2.8 Tons of Charas and 4.5 Kgs of Heroin in 2 operations. The value of recovered drugs approximately amounts to Rs. 2.794 Billion in International Market. ANF also arrested a PIA Flight Steward involved in Heroin trafficking during the operations.

ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine surveillance at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad detained a PIA Steward namely Irfan Ullah Shah and recovered of 4.5 Kgs of Heroin from his possession. Heroin was concealed in his hand carry and passenger bag. According to details, the accused belongs to District Swabi and is serving with PIA for the last 8 years. He was detailed on duty with PIA Flight No. PK-791 scheduled to fly for Birmingham.

ANF Quetta carried out a successful intelligence operation and seized 2760 Kgs of Charas from desolate area of Killi Pir Muhammad Gohram, Tehsil Mangocher, District Kalat. According to details, Charas was concealed at a deserted site in the cuttings of mountainous terrain, away from the inhabited area. Charas was stuffed in 82 plastic bags. Out of total bags, 80 contained 33 Kg Charas, while 2 bags contained 60 Kgs of Charas. As per initial investigations, the consignment was placed at cache site and was to be transported to Karachi through RCD Highway for smuggling to some overseas destination via sea route.

Both cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are under process.
