RAWALPINDI: A 35-years-old lover poured boiling water on a young girl, whom he liked and wanted to marry, while burning her here at Street Number 1 at Naseerabad here on Tuesday.

The lover indentified as Kashif alias Kashi, an auto showroom owner, managed to escape from the scene and the girl was rushed to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where doctors provided her medical treatment. The girl was identified as Rabia Shaeen, aged 19. According to Irshad Bibi, the mother of victim girl, told The Patriot that a man namely Kashif liked her daughter Rabia Shaheen and wanted to marry her. She said that he sent his proposal for Rabia which was rejected by me and my husband, a security guard by profession.

She added that Kashif arrived their home and dined with the family during which he was informed that Rabia got engaged with some other man. She said that he listened the entire saga and assured her that he would help them in marriage of Rabia. “In morning Rabia put kettle on stove for preparing tea when Kashif suddenly lifted the kettle and poured boiling water on her and fled from the scene,” she said adding that she transported Rabia to DHQ in critical condition for medical treatment. She informed that she had lodged complaint with PS Naseerabad for registration of case against the accused.

A doctor, providing medical treatment to the girl, told that the girl sustained slight burnt injuries and was discharged after initial medical treatment. Doctors suggested police to lodge case against the accused. SHO PS Naseerabad, when contacted, said that he received complaint from victim girl and called the mother of girl Tuesday for meeting and to launch legal action against the accused.
