ISLAMABAD (INP): Hearing of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s treason case on Wednesday has been adjourned until tomorrow (Thursday). Mushrraf’s counsel Barrister Farogh Naseem is due to present his stance in the court based on the previous trials.
The case was heard by a two-member bench led by Justice Tahira Safdar in the special court of Islamabad. Barrister Farogh Naseem argued over the petition filed for including Musharraf’s associates in the case trial. The court ordered him to present a written legal stance before the judge in tomorrow’s hearing. Naseem requested the court to cancel the case hearing for tomorrow due to some engagements. However, rejecting his request, the court adjourned the hearing until tomorrow morning. Justice Faisal Arab was on leave and therefore was not present in today’s trial.
It is worth mentioning here that the special court of Islamabad is trying former President General (retd) Pervez Mushahrraf under Article 6 of the constitution. Earlier the case hearings had been delayed because the premise of the special court is located opposite the Supreme Court building on the Constitution Avenue where thousands of followers of Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri were staging a protest sit-in against the government.
