ISLAMABAD: Political leaders say every political party wants electoral reforms to make the elections free, fair and transparent. The electoral reforms committee is working diligently for effective changes in electoral system.

They were speaking in Nuqta-e Nazar and Perspectives programmes of RadioPakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel.

JUI-F Leader Senator Hamad Ullah said our party is in favor of electoral reforms and we believe in change in electoral process through parliament. We are the part of electoral reforms committee of the parliament and we will give our positive input during the meetings of this important committee. Foolproof system for free and fair elections in the country will further strengthen the democratic system.

PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry said the electoral reforms committee has discussed several issues including qualification of the candidates, election spending and electronic voting system. The report of the judicial commission has also been presented before the committee. PTI has wasted two years of the nation in false propaganda of rigging. National economy suffered huge losses due to the sit-ins by Imran Khan.

PML-N leader Abdul Hakeem Baloch said all parliamentary parties are in favor of electoral reforms in the country. The committee has discussed the use of latest technologies to make the process transparent. I think we should forget the weaknesses of past. We need to work for a free and fair electoral process in the country. The committee will soon give a detailed output on this important issue.

PPP leader Senator Saleem Mandiwala was of the view that no one is against electoral reforms in the country. Some parties followed wrong course to probe election riggings. They chose the way of agitation which was not in the interests of the country and nation. Electoral reforms are only possible through parliament and the special committee on electoral reforms is working on it. Now, it is the duty of all political parties to show maturity and seriousness on this important issue.
