ISLAMABAD: Lawmakers advised political parties not to use state institutions in politics on Saturday as they once more voiced their concern about the current campaign against the nation’s military services.
Without mentioning Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated during a speech on the National Assembly floor that no one needed to mention the army in remarks at public gatherings if it didn’t want to play a political role.
The declaration was made as Mr. Khan was speaking at the PTI’s power show in Lahore. If the army wants to avoid politics, do not involve it in it.
When Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf gave the minister the opportunity to introduce a discussion on the diamond jubilee celebrations of the nation’s first constituent assembly, the minister pleaded with the army, the bureaucracy, and the judiciary to operate within the bounds of the constitution.
