200 industries of Haripur closed down: Atif Ikram

ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (INP): Chief Executive Officer of Trade Development Authority and Patron in Chief, SM Muneer has said that Haripur is an industrial hub; there were 600 industries in the district, which were playing their role in the overall economy of Pakistan.

He was addressing to the oath taking ceremony of newly elected members of Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

He said that industries are playing pivotal role in the economy of country; they are generating employment, paying billions of rupees to national exchequer and reducing poverty in the country.

While showing concern the closure of industries in the Haripur district, he said that it is an alarming situation for the government, where industries are closing. Government must take serious notice of this and take immediate measure to revive industries in the province.

He assured the business community that sick industries of Haripur district will be revived; it will increase Pakistan’s export and reduce unemployment in the country.

At this occasion, President Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industries has said that more than 200 industries are closed in Haripur due to energy crisis and poor law and order situation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

Atif said that the provincial government has not formulated a new industrial policy despite the fact that the business community had given its suggestion to formulate industrial policy. Business men are waiting for new industrial policy to establish industries in the province.

He emphasized that to end terrorism, unemployment and poverty in KP, government should announce new industrial policy at the earliest.
