Youm-e-Ashur observed across Pakistan peacefully amidst tight security


RAWALPINDI/KARACHI/LAHORE/PESHAWAR/QUETTA: Youm-e-Ashur on Saturday was observed across the country peacefully  amidst tight security as mourners paid tributes to the supreme sacrifices offered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions against a tyrant ruler in Karbala.Multiple processions took place under tight security. The federal and provincial governments took strict security measures to maintain law and order on the occasion, while the Army was deployed in sensitive areas. Mobile phone service and wireless internet service were suspended while officials at the command and control centers monitored the processions through CCTV cameras.In Rawalpindi, the main mourning procession was taken out from Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain which terminated at Imambargah Qadeemi after passing through its traditional route. Majlis-e-Sham-e-Gharibain was held at the conclusion of the procession. In Lahore, the main procession was taken out from the Nisar Havali and terminated at Karbala Gamay Shah after passing through its traditional routes. Thousands of people, including children and women, took part in the processions.In Karachi, the main Youm-e-Ashur mourning procession of Alam, Tazia and Zuljinnah was taken out from NishtarPark and concluded at Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar, after passing through its traditional routes.The volunteers of various social welfare organisations put up medical camps and Sabeels to facilitate the participants of the procession. Ambulance services and first aid camps were also set up by various organisations to facilitate the mourners.The snipers were also deployed atop the buildings along the route of the procession. The aerial surveillance of the procession was also carried out on the occasion.Youm-e-Ashur was peacefully observed in Khyber Pakthunkhwa as scores of Tazyiya, Alam and Zuljinah processions were taken out from the Imambargh Syed Alam Shah in Koocha Bazaar, which after passing through Qissa Khwani and other traditional routes ended  at the same venue.The mourning processions in Hangu, Kohat, DI Khan, Manshera, Lakki Marwat, Tank and other districts passed through their traditional routes and culminated at their respective Imambargahs peacefully amid strict security.During mourning processions and Majalis, scholars paid homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions. Law-enforcement agencies established command and control posts at sensitive places to maintain law and order while more than 7,000 policemen and over 1000 Frontier Constabulary troops were deployed in sensitive areas including Koochi Bazaar, Kohati, Qissa Khwani, Kabari Bazaar, Jehangirpura, Sarki Gate, Hashtnagri and Gulbahar to guard the processions. Medical camps were established to provide first aid to mourners, while hospital staff remained alert round the clock for any emergency situation. Food, milk and water were offered to procession participants. In Quetta, the main procession was taken out from Alamdar Road. After passing through its traditional route, it will end at its starting point.Similarly, in Muzaffarabad, main Taazia, Alam and Zuljinah processions were taken out from Markazi Imambargah Pir Ilam Shah Bukhari and terminated at the same place after passing through their traditional routes. Alam, Zul’jinnah and Tazia processions were brought out from Imambargahs which culminated at their fixed spots after marching through their tradition routes in all ten district headquarters of AJK including Mirpur, Haveili, Hattiyan,  Kotli, Bhimbher, Bagh, Sudahnoti, Rawalakot and Neelam valley besides all other major and small towns across the liberatedterritory. In Gilgit, the main procession was taken out from Markazi Imamia Masjid which passing through main bazaar terminated at same place. INP
