NANKANA SAHEB: Governor Gilgit Baltistan and Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhary Muhammad Barjees Tahir says recent increase in the defence budget of India is cause of concern for Pakistan and neighbouring countries.
Talking to newsmen in Sangla Hill in district Nankana Sahib on Sunday, he said India’s war hysteria will not only create tension in the region but will also increase human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir by India.
The Minister called upon the world community to take notice of increased Indian defence budget.
Barjees Tahir said Kashmir dispute is the basic point of contention and the issue is the cause of conventional and nuclear arms race in the region. He said arms race in South Asia will continue till the durable solution of Kashmir dispute.
He said the present Government soon after assuming power extended hand of friendship towards India but unfortunately India construed our desire of peace as our weakness. He said later India not only demonstrated its war hysteria at Line of Control and Working Boundary but also sabotaged the process of dialogue.
Minister for Kashmir Affairs said Pakistan is a peaceful country and oppose arms race in the region. He said it is the desire of Pakistan that Kashmir dispute is resolve soon and both the countries spend their resources on alleviation of poverty and development and welfare of their peoples. However, he said Pakistan is not oblivious of its defence needs and fully capable to defend the motherland.
