ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday said the armed forces will not let the “sacrifices of martyrs go to waste”, local media reported.
“I want to make clear to all enemies that the defence of Pakistan is invincible,” said the army chief in his concluding address at a ceremony held to mark the country’s defence day.
We know how to make friends, but we also know how to payback our enemies,” said General Sharif. “The defence of Pakistan is invincible.”
The army chief also paid tribute to people of the tribal area for the sacrifices they rendered, including leaving their generational abodes, for the sake of Pakistan.
General Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve for a peaceful Afghanistan. “It is also necessary for the elimination of terror to strengthen our laws,” reiterated the army chief.
He added that North Waziristan had become a safe haven for terrorists, but the army has successfully achieved the goals of Zarb-e-Azb military operation.
