PPMMRAWLAKOT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the nation would collectively confront the problems caused by rains and floods and people of Azad Kashmir would not be left alone in the hour of crisis.

He was speaking at a briefing and cheques distribution ceremony here Monday during which the prime minister was briefed about destruction caused by rains and floods in Azad Kashmir. Earlier, the prime minister had an aerial view of Rawlakot and adjoining areas to have an assessment of the destruction.

President of Azad Kashmir Sardar Yaqub Nasir, Prime Minister AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed and leader of the opposition Raja Farooq Haider were also present.

PM said that looking after the needs and hardships of flood victims is responsibility of the state and the government would meet the requirements of Azad Kashmir for relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.

He said mass scale destruction took place due to heavy floods and torrential rains in Azad Kashmir and Punjab. He prayed to Almighty Allah for protecting Sindh from destructions of floods.

The prime minister said destruction took place because Pakistan received water beyond its capacity. He said people in Punjab are also facing hardships. He said every nook and corner of the country is beloved to him and he will reach everywhere to mitigate the sufferings of his countrymen.

Nawaz Sharif said journey of progress will continue. He said Azad Kashmir will be transformed into a tourist destination. He said Rawalpindi-Muzaffarabad rail project will be completed in two years.

The premier said economy of the country had to bear massive losses due to sit-ins adding that the nation had rejected the politics of sit-ins and considered it a serious impediment to economic progress of country.He said the nation dislikes dharnas and consider them as a hurdle in the development of the country. He said the government is not scared of sit-ins but they caused the postponement of visits of three heads of state including China.
