Violence begets violence

Human rights abuse in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir state is an open secret. The abuses range from mass killings, enforced disappearances, torture, rape and sexual abuse to political repression and suppression of freedom of speech.

Recently Wiki Leaks has also revealed secret documents that show how Indian forces use all the gory tactics to violate basic human rights in the Kashmir valley in order to prolong its occupation. From last 75 days curfew is imposed in the valley, various modes of communications including internet is suspended, people are unable to run the routine business.

Despite massive use of force by Indian authorities, people are showing unprecedented resistance against the illegal, immoral occupation of India over Kashmir. Till today India has killed over 76 innocent protesters while many have received serious injuries. Brutality of Indian forces can be measured from the fact that using pellet guns against unarmed, innocent protesters have resulted in blinding hundreds of people. Brutality has touched such heights that even many Indian human rights activists have severely criticised the cruel tactics of Indian government to suppress Kashmiri protesters.

India is making massive hue and cries over Sep 18 attack on an army base in Uri near Sri Nagar which killed 17 Indian soldiers, but it is also a fact that violence always begets violence.  Had the innocent protesters treated properly by Indian authorities, situation could have improved. It is time that some sane voices in India should realize the authorities that if Indian government continues to use violence in Kashmir then violence can also grip other parts of India. Indeed violent behavior promotes other violent behavior, in return.

It seems Uri army base attack was in retaliation of the Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir.
