Pakistan team under the leadership of dynamic Srafraz Ahmed has comprehensively wrapped up three match T-20 series 2-0 by winning first two matches against world champions West Indies.
Currently Pakistan is playing bilateral home series against West Indies in United Arab Emirates, series is based on three matches each of all the formats of the game. Considering the past performances, it is often said that if one similar element can be associated with both teams, it is tag of in-consistent performances and their unpredictability. But in recent times, Pakistan have shown great consistency in Test format, they are currently number one team of the world in Test, but failed to maintain same performance in limited over cricket. On the other side, West Indies have shown some consistency in white ball cricket, particularly in T20, they are current champions in the format, but they are giving disappointing performances in Test matches from quite some time now.
It is pleasing to watch Pakistan winning the T20 series, now it is time for Azhar Ali who has been retained as captain of ODI to step up to win the series. Recently biggest worry for Pakistan team management and coaches is the threat of not qualifying directly for the 2019 World Cup; ICC has announced that only top eight teams would enjoy direct entry into the mega tournament. Pakistan have almost one year to improve their rankings before the ICC cut-off date, Sep 30, next year for direct entry. Though winning all three ODI matches against West Indies would not be enough to improve their number nine ranking but surely it would be a massive development in the right direction.
After winning T20 series, ODI team needs to step up in order to improve rankings.
