KARACHI: The deadline for Pakistani nationals who wish to renew their tourist and business visas was extended by the US embassy on Thursday.

The declaration was made in a statement published on Thursday by the US embassy.

The US government permits non-immigrant visa applicants to apply for their visas without an interview under the interview waiver programme, the statement stated.

“First-time applicants should not participate in this process. It only applies to specific candidates who are requesting visas, and other restrictions might be in place.

Citizens applying to renew their B1/B2 tourist and business visas are free from the requirement.

The exception, according to the US embassy, is available to any Pakistani nationals, regardless of age, whose B1/B2 visas are valid or have expired within the last 48 months.

FM thanks everyone

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the foreign minister, thanked US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for granting interview waivers. He wrote on Twitter, “Allowing interview waivers for people who have previously had US visas across all age groups is incredibly helpful.”

The minister continued by saying that this move by the US embassy could quicken the visa application process and strengthen “people-to-people ties.”
