Gaza: Germany, Egypt and the United Nations are putting intense pressure on Israel to allow immediate aid delivery due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
German Chancellor Friedrich Meretz spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by phone and urged Israel to immediately ensure the delivery and safe distribution of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati said during a news conference in Cairo: “Using hunger as a weapon against the Palestinians is unacceptable.” He stressed the urgent need for unhindered aid to enter Gaza.
Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), has warned that an unimaginable humanitarian tragedy could unfold in Gaza if Israel does not immediately open the way for humanitarian aid.
He told the American channel ABC News in an interview: “We need an immediate ceasefire, full access and open routes so that we can deliver food. Otherwise, there will be a catastrophe the world has never seen before.”
He added that the World Food Program staff is the most experienced in the world, and if Israel grants access, they can provide assistance on a large scale.
