ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Monday said that both Pakistan and India can only gain through dialogue and expressed his disappointment on the cancellation of Foreign Secretary level talks.

He was talking to US Senators Tim Kaine, and Angus King, Members of the Senate Armed Services Committee at the Prime Minister House.

Nawaz Sharif said UN resolutions must form the basis for any solution for Kashmir and people of Kashmir be made part of it. He asked the UN to honor its own resolutions on this matter. He said the only acceptable solution of Kashmir will be the one which is endorsed by all parties including Pakistan, India and Kashmiris.

He informed the US Senators that Pakistan has seen improvement in its economic indicators and asked for better market access for Pakistani products in the US.

Earlier Sartaj Aziz conveyed Pakistan’s concerns over ceasefire violations across the LoC and the working boundary between India and Pakistan to the visiting US congressional delegation.

The US Senators appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to curb terrorism and acknowledged the sacrifices made by Pakistan in this regard. They agreed that the root causes of terrorism must also be addressed for a longer-term solution of the problem. INP
