UAE PAP distributes aid worth $ 3.1 m among flood victims

ISLAMABAD: The Administration of UAE Pakistan Assistance Programme (UAE PAP) told on Sunday that with the cooperation and coordination with the Pakistani Army 20,000 of food baskets were distributed among the affected families and individuals in several flood hit areas in the Punjab Province.

UAE PAP has distributed 40,000 food baskets and 7,100 tents worth over $3.1 million, during last two weeks among the families affected by the floods in several villages, cities of the Punjab.

The steps were taken on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, orders of General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and follow up of Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, to provide urgent humanitarian and food assistance to the families affected by the floods, the Administration of UAE Pakistan Assistance Programme (UAE PAP)

Giving details of aid, The UAE PLP official told that it had distributed over 1,500 tonnes of food aid to the displaced families that include flour, rice, sugar, salt, lentils, cooking oil and tea weighing 75 kg per family.

The UAE PAP also announced the establishment of four shelters, about 7, 100 tents, to ensure appropriate accommodation for the affected families. It also extended special thanks and lauded the assistance of Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for funding the humanitarian aid.

The flood affectees praised the UAE’s wise leadership for the humanitarian aid to save their families.
