PESHAWAR: Two pilots were martyred when a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training jet was destroyed during crash-landing at Bacha Khan International Airport on Tuesday.
According to details, the PAF trainer aircraft FT-7PG during routine operational training mission crashed while landing at Peshawar air base after technical fault emerged in the plane.
Two pilots of the PAF training jet were martyred as the plane was destroyed during the landing.”The pilots tried to save the nearby civilian population and steered the jet towards the runway but it blew up during crash-landing,” the eye witnesses said.
Smoke was seen rising from the vicinity of the airport after the incident. An emergency was declared at the airport after the incident.
However, airport sources said the rescue staff managed to douse the flames and clear the runway. INP
