Trump’s anti-Pakistan remarks

The US Chargé D Affaires Ambassador Paul Jones was summoned to Foreign Office on Tuesday and a strong protest was lodged with him on the unwarranted and unsubstantiated allegations made against Pakistan by the US President Donald Trump. Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua conveyed the Government s disappointment on the recent tweets and comments by the US President and told him that such baseless rhetoric about Pakistan is totally unacceptable.

Rejecting the insinuations about Osama bin Laden, Foreign Secretary reminded the US diplomat that it was Pakistan s intelligence cooperation that provided the initial evidence to trace the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden. She told the US that no other country had paid a heavier price than Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. The US leadership had acknowledged on multiple occasions that Pakistan s cooperation had helped in decimating the core Al-Qaeda leadership and eradicating the threat of terrorism from the region. The US must not forget that scores of top Al-Qaeda leaders were killed or captured by active Pakistani cooperation. Pakistan s continued support to the efforts of international community in Afghanistan through Ground, Air and Sea lines of communication was unquestionably critical to the success of this Mission in Afghanistan.

Imran Khan using social media platform twitter replied to Trump’s remarks and media outlets from all around the world have given breaking news and headlines over Pakistan PM’s tweet against President Donald Trump. Headlines signified that a Pakistani Prime Minister from civilian circles, taking on a bold tone against US policies in the region, revealed motoring reports. The world media said that previously the country’s military could respond in a harsh tone whenever it felt that its efforts in the war on terror were not being highlighted enough, but this time the civilian prime minister chose to snub the US president over what he called ‘ irrational’ behavior. Imran Khan’s tweets on Trump and the US made it to the headlines of popular media outlets, leaving the whole world stunned as it was the first time that any leader from the whole region took on the US President publicly. It is rare for a civilian Prime Minister in Pakistan to call out the USA for being dishonest in its dealings.

US must not make Pakistan scapegoat for own failures in Afghanistan, where thousands of American troops have nothing to show for their efforts and only trillions of dollars in losses.
