Trump’s Afghanistan: Threat to peace

After Bush this is Trump’s Afghanistan everyone is scared of. Trump’s policies are not being taken in a positive way in the region. With all care and objectivity it can be said that Donald Trump has awaken the local powers from their slumber. At least Russia , China and Iran are evidently challenging its hegemony in the region. Now that Trump has threatened Pakistan and has authorized his field officers to even decide on their own whether or not they launch an offensive against neighboring countries in Afghanistan, the message is very clear: You have only one option , Obey , obey and Obey. Now this is something impossible in the given context and situation. Result is there, clear and cohesive.

The regional powers have now made up their minds. US’ policies in Afghanistan have earned no good for the neighboring countries. They are scared. They have certain reservations. They have reached to the conclusion , perhaps , that this is the ripe time to say goodbye to Unilateralism in world politics. US’ officilas claim that Russia , China and Iran have engaged the Taliban to a certain extent. If this is true and prime facie it is, it is a message that future of Afghanistan shall be decide only once the regional stake holders have been taken into confidence. No one from outside can dictate the region.

Just have a look at what China’s foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying has said while defending Pakistan:

Pakistan is at the forefront of the counter-terrorism efforts. For many years, it has made positive efforts and great sacrifices for combating terrorism and made important contributions to upholding world peace and regional stability. We believe that the international community should fully recognize the efforts made by Pakistan in fighting terrorism.

Russian presidential envoy to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov also said the same thing:“Putting pressure [on Pakistan] may seriously destabilise the region-wide security situation and result in negative consequences for Afghanistan”.

The message from US is very clear and the message from the region is also no more ambiguous.
